SUMMER BAND DAY 4 - NERD DAY! Hooray :)

Summer Band Day 4 began with Mr. Roberts & Mr. Slusser at teacher inservice at Travis HS 8am.  It was actually really great for once.  This is due in large part to our NEW Director of Fine Arts for FBISD - Mr. Jim Drew (formerly assistant director of bands at Dulles HS).  Mr. Drew is an incredible teacher (took the Dulles MS Honor Band to Midwest in 1994).  He is also a dear friend and colleague.  It is exciting and inspiring to have him leading our department and being advocate for Fine Arts in FBISD.

After inservice, we rushed to Summer Band.  Mr. Slusser worked with the French Horns on their audition material while the oboes and I dominated the oboe cuts.  I could not be more excited about our Double Reeds this year!

The best moment was probably our Full Band rehearsal - it was the first time we had the DMS Drumline rehearse with us.  Those guys (and a gal) have been working RIDICULOUSLY hard - KUDOS.

It was NERD DAY today.  Therefore, no one really needed to dress up I suppose...haha....  Congratulations to the Sinski Twins - Tim & Greg for winning.  They received a box of NERDS candy, DVD of Clash of the Titans (1980 claymation version) and a PacMan poster!  See some pictures below:
